If God Performs Miracles

October 10th, 2008 by Mike Lopez

If God performs miracles, I wouldn’t have sent my wife to the hospital for a minor surgery. Many have prayed for her and yet no healing came. Yep, she’s a believer and I’m not. It was obvious that no miracle was coming.

But God uses doctors and medicines, right? I mean, didn’t Jesus use clay and his own saliva to heal a blind man right? So God does use objects in healing, correct? Hmmm… well, how I wish that some servant of God would have spat on the ground, made some clay and applied it to my wife’s hemorrhoid but well, that didn’t happen. Instead I heard pastors and other believers pray for God to use the doctors and the medicines to cure her.

Honestly, THAT SUCKS!!! Why?

Clay and saliva doesn’t cost a thing. And mind you, even if Jesus did use objects in the bible to heal, the healing was still miraculous. The blind man in the story saw almost immediately – that’s a miracle. But medicines and doctors? Well, my wife is still waiting for her surgical wounds to heal. No, I don’t think God did anything in that. But I’m pretty sure that the doctors and the nurses did.

Sorry for ranting but I’m just growing tired of the typical “God uses doctors and medicines to do his works” type of answers.

always keep the best hopes in times of darkness…

God may not help you because you can do it on your own, your wife is in pain yet she’s holding on. be strong. there aint no atheists at stormy seas. i’ll be praying for you, we’re all praying for you.

Guess what? I paid for the doctor and the medicines and my wife is way better now. Thank’s to Science she’s better. And my faith in Science has never been stronger and my faith in god dropped from ZERO to NEGATIVE ONE MILLION

    Mike,

May I ask, how old are you? I mean, only a kid would think that you can get a piece of candy just by asking for it.. And a mature individual would agree that not everything you asked for will be given to you, no matter what you sacrificed or have given.. You see, you’re looking at it like whatever you ask from God will be given to you. much like a spoiled kid that thinks his rich parents can give him everything..

im sorry, but it’s so childish..

Anyway, He doesn’t need to use doctors or nurses to perform his miracles.. That’s a childish thought too.. It’s like an excuse for when a person can’t prove what he is saying about God is true..

And, another thing, God doesn’t need to explain anything to anyone.. Much like when you don’t have to explain yourself to your kids why certain things can’t be given to them.. Why do you think this is? Bcoz you know better than them, and even if you try to explain they won’t understand, or they do understand but they are still just too young to accept the fact that you know better.. And i think you would agree to this: Not giving your children what they ask for everytime they ask for it doesn’t mean you can’t do it, nor you love them less.. It only means that you know better..

There is this proverb from where I came from, that says a small child those not know charm and called it vegetation. That is what happens to us at time. God give without sorrow, but because of our impatience, we always want quick miracle that will never last long. How long have you been waiting on the lord, that you gave up? If science tells you to wait for 5 years before your wife get heal, what will you do. Most time we talk with our little faith and that make us believe in ourselves that we can do all thing without God. But let me tell you something today, there is something science, yourself and I can do without God. Thank you.

If science told me to way 5 years before my wife gets healed, then I’d wait. Because science is not god and it has no powers. It merely is a study of things – facts that we observe. But if God told me to wait 5 years for a miracle, then I’d laugh at him – loudly.

We always blame things on ourselves when we fail to see this god. Not enough faith, too much sin, etc, etc, etc. I always thought that this god’s purpose is to prove himself all powerful to this world. I mean, if god won’t show himself because no one ever believes him anymore, then heck, I don’t think he’s powerful at all.

Miracles in the bible were meant to prove the power of god. Fire from heaven, water cutting in half, people getting healed, and the dead rising again – all these were meant to prove the power of god. Or am I wrong? If not, for what purpose were these things made to happen?
